This song might prove well-suited for a drama about the European conquest of the Americas, but could fit into numerous related stories, such as a moality tale about greed for gold, or a story relating to some hell-like notion of a subterranean underworld. The lyrics were inspired by the Tony Hillerman novel "The Wailing Wind" (2010) as well as by the Werner Herzog film "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" (1972).
